Class 9 : Tafseer Sura Maryam verse 51-58

Bismillah ArRahman ArRahim. Allahumma Rabbana Zidna ilma. Allahumma Rabbana Ihdinas sira talmustaqim. Amma ba’du

Allah s.w.t said onto you all

Surah Maryam, Verse 51:

وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ مُوسَىٰ إِنَّهُ كَانَ مُخْلَصًا وَكَانَ رَسُولًا نَّبِيًّا

 

And mention Musa in the Book; surely he was one purified, and he was an apostle, a prophet.

And also mention in the Book, the story of Moses, for he was specifically chosen, purified, a messenger and a prophet.

Tafseer

Tell the story of Musa a.s as most of the stories in the Quran, is about Musa a.s. Most of the people then, now and the future, behave like the Jews. He was the one who freed the Jews from bondage.

He preaches to Firaun and his people from 2 miracles and his knowledge of Wahyu from his teacher and father in-law Syuaib a.s together with the Wahyu from Allah.

He was the only one who talked to the Lord, known by another name – Kalamullah.

His story was from his birth to his death, all were told in the Quran. Our Prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h was not mentioned in detail in the Quran.

He had the Torah after he crossed the sea on Tursina.

 

Surah Maryam, Verse 52:

وَنَادَيْنَاهُ مِن جَانِبِ الطُّورِ الْأَيْمَنِ وَقَرَّبْنَاهُ نَجِيًّا

 

And We called to him from the blessed side of the mountain, and We made him draw nigh, holding communion (with Us).

And we called him from the right side of the mount Sinai and made him near to us and hold a conversation with him.

Mentioned in other sura :

  1. After living and learning with his in law Shuaib a.s, he decided to return to Egypt after 10 years.
  2. While traveling with his family in a very cold and dark night, he was lost in the desert and saw a fire on the mountain. That’s where he talked to the Lord, and received a revelation, an instruction to bring his people from bondage while preaching to Firaun.

 

Surah Maryam, Verse 53:

وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُ مِن رَّحْمَتِنَا أَخَاهُ هَارُونَ نَبِيًّا

 

And We gave to him out of Our mercy his brother Haroun a prophet.

And from our Mercy, We gave his brother Aaron a prophet.

Tafseer

Both prophets preach, believe in the One and only Lord, Allah, don’t take a mediator besides Him, don’t do shrik.

 

Surah Maryam, Verse 54:

وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ إِنَّهُ كَانَ صَادِقَ الْوَعْدِ وَكَانَ رَسُولًا نَّبِيًّا

 

And mention Ismail in the Book; surely he was truthful in (his) promise, and he was an apostle, a prophet.

And also mention in the Book is the story of Ishmael a.s. Surely he was true to his promise. And he was an apostle and a prophet.

Tafseer

Ishmael was the son of Abraham a.s, his mother was Hagar or Hajar. He followed the teachings of Abraham a.s.

 

Surah Maryam, Verse 55:

وَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ أَهْلَهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ وَالزَّكَاةِ وَكَانَ عِندَ رَبِّهِ مَرْضِيًّا

And he enjoined on his family prayer and almsgiving, and was one in whom his Lord was well pleased.

And he used to enjoin on his people Solat and zakat and he was most acceptable in the sight of his Lord.

He preaches his people, don’t ever worship but to the only One God and don’t take a mediator besides Him.

 

Surah Maryam, Verse 56:

وَاذْكُرْ فِي الْكِتَابِ إِدْرِيسَ إِنَّهُ كَانَ صِدِّيقًا نَّبِيًّا

 

And mention Idris in the Book; surely he was a truthful man, a prophet,

And mention in the Book, Idris. Surely he was a man of truth, sincerity and also a prophet.

 

Surah Maryam, Verse 57:

وَرَفَعْنَاهُ مَكَانًا عَلِيًّا

 

And We raised him high in Heaven.

And We raised him to a lofty position. He also preach that don’t ever worship but to the only One God and don’t take a mediator besides Him

 

Surah Maryam, Verse 58:

أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ النَّبِيِّينَ مِن ذُرِّيَّةِ آدَمَ وَمِمَّنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوحٍ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّةِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْرَائِيلَ وَمِمَّنْ هَدَيْنَا وَاجْتَبَيْنَا إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُ الرَّحْمَٰنِ خَرُّوا سُجَّدًا وَبُكِيًّا

These are they on whom Allah bestowed favors, from among the prophets of the seed of Adam, and of those whom We carried with Nuh, and of the seed of Ibrahim and Israel, and of those whom We guided and chose; when the communications of the Beneficent Allah were recited to them, they fell down making obeisance and weeping.

Those were some of the prophets on whom Allah bestow His Grace. Also a tafseer for verse 7 al fatihah. From the posterity of Adam a.s and decedent of Adam a.s. And those who We carried in the Ark with Noah and the posterity of Abraham a.s

Tafseer

From the posterity of Adam a.s, Idris a.s. Sons of prophet Noah, some prophets. Posterity of Abraham, Ishmael. And the posterity of Israel i.e Jacob a.s, Joseph, Moses, to Isa a.s. Many apostles and prophets. Of those whom We guided and chose. Allah gave them guidance on the true path and He chose amongst man.

Instructions for us

Whenever the verses of Quran of the Lord Most Gracious were read to them those who believe, they would fall down in prostrate or sujud and in tears as they know they were in Solat for the Lord.

Wabillahitaufiq walhamdulillah hirabbil alamin
